SF Open Studios
Artist Statement
My reclaimed material ArtBots, CellBots and other sculpture are composed of circuit boards, keyboards, cell phone innards, wooden foundry patterns, stroboscopic timing wheels and electronic detritus of all ilk. My large oils on canvas, worked intuitively, feature visionary creatures that morph and glide across the surface. Miniature drawn-paintings on amate barkskin take their cue from the lush, textural surface of the paper. My practice also explores bold, high-contrast images in graphite on archival paper.
I exhibit nationally and internationally and my works reside in numerous private and public collections, including: The Spertus Museum, Chicago; Sony Corporation, San Jose; Santa Clara Medical Center; First National Bank of Arizona, Phoenix; Tonellerie Taransaud, Bordeaux; Francois Freres, Burgundy; and Paramount Pictures, Los Angeles for "Star Trek: Voyager."
Paintings, drawings, furniture, masks, amazing objects: Lizland, my Studio of Functional & Dysfunctional Art has it all. Visitors welcome by appointment Monday-Saturday. 415-863-1047 or liz@lizland.com.
